Haven't posted in the longest time. Not a whole lot new going on, so sorry if this is kind of stream of consciousness.
Cats are getting along, though tiring of having to separate them for feedings, Nikulai and I have decided to instead start mixing the adult cat food and the kitten chow. We will see what success we have. . . .
I'm working on a kirtle for Mistress Roz with Beatrice. She wanted more garb for Pennsic but didn't have time to sew it herself, and knowing that Beatrice and I are out of work right now, she offered us some temp employment. So far we've gotten through the initial fitting, which went much smoother than I had hoped. If all goes well, we'll have a pattern from which to make several kirtles, over-kirtles, surcotes, and cotehardies. I'm looking forward to it.
Also working on the muslin for my first Elizabethan doublet. I hope to have it completely done in time for Pennsic. Then I can make any changes to the pattern that I need to, and get a second, nicer doublet for Twelfth Night.
By the way, while I have your attention, a warning to all of you who were at the bachelor party last Saturday: if my boyfriend ever drives himself home as intoxicated as he was, I will personally come to the homes of everyone at the party, tie you up, shove a ball gag down your throat, and black work your anus shut. Sorry , guess I should back up.
So last Saturday Nikulai and I were invited to a bachelor party. He went, I stayed home sick. By all accounts it was a great party. Why do I always miss the good ones? Nikulai came home after, kissed me hello, and promptly stumbled over backward. He then proceeded to chase the cats around the kitchen. It would have been highly entertaining had it not been for the fact that I knew he had just driven himself home from downtown Durham. I was something less than amused. He kept protesting that he was fine, really, that he'd been drunk before but had since sobered up, but I wasn't buying it, and threatened to by a breathalyzer for him to take to parties.
Sorry to end on so serious a note but I just realized that it's almost half past three already. I'll have to finish this entry tomorrow
